OEM number not published: Proton does not sell the battery under a Proton part number. The Gen-2 fitment listed by Malaysian battery sellers is the European DIN55R case, also written LN2R. Some generic size guides show a Japanese NS60 for older Protons, so order by the DIN55R code rather than by “Proton Gen-2” alone.
Malaysian battery sellers list the Gen-2 under DIN55R at 12V 55Ah. Prices checked 2026-10-26: Yuasa RM292, Varta RM320, Amaron RM330 to RM365. All are maintenance-free.
Confirm the terminal orientation against the battery in the car before ordering. A reversed unit is the common return, and the hold-down clamp only fits one way.
Expect 18 to 24 months in Malaysian heat. If the car cranks slowly but the lights are bright, have the battery tested before replacing the starter, because the starter is the more expensive guess.
Verified against a Malaysian battery retailer’s Gen-2 fitment page listing DIN55R units from Yuasa, Varta and Amaron, checked 2026-10-26. Retailer listing, not a Proton document.
