1.6L Automatic

The four-speed automatic was the volume seller. It suits the car’s city role and takes the sting out of the engine’s weak low end, because the gearbox keeps the revs up when you press harder. The catch is age: a 2004 to 2008 four-speed with 200,000 km on it is a gearbox that has already done most of its working life.

The price list calls this “GEN 2 1.6 AUTO ECH B” and gives RM55,234.32 on the road with insurance and registration. It sat RM3,724 above the manual on the same list. The 2008 facelift IAFM automatic was RM56,488, so this entry is the older S4PH car.

Before buying, drive it cold and drive it in traffic. A thump into Drive, a delayed 1-2 shift or a flare between gears is the gearbox telling you its fluid and clutches are tired. A test drive on a warm car hides all three.
