CVT Shudder at Low Speeds
Safe to keep driving. Fix it when convenient.
If ignored: Left alone, the shudder gets worse and the repair gets more expensive.
Affects model years: 2018-Present
Symptoms
- Shuddering or vibration at low speeds (10-30 km/h)
- Hesitation when accelerating from standstill
- Unusual noise from transmission at low RPM
Cause
The Perodua CVT uses a belt-and-pulley system that can develop shudder as the CVT fluid degrades. Low-speed shudder is more pronounced in stop-go traffic and worsens in hot climates.
Solution
CVT fluid replacement with OEM-spec CVTF FE often resolves the issue. If the problem persists after fluid change, inspect the CVT belt for wear. Early detection prevents costly repairs.
basis not stated · undated
CVT shudder is the most commonly reported issue across all Myvi variants. Proper fluid maintenance significantly reduces the risk.
Community notes
Many Myvi owners report improvement after switching to Idemitsu CVTF FE. Regular CVT fluid changes at 60,000km intervals are the best prevention.
