The standard G from the third-generation launch in November 2017 until the facelift in November 2021. It used a four-speed automatic, not a CVT, and the 5-speed manual was the RM44,300 car at the bottom of the range.
Four speeds sounds old, and it is. The upside is that the gearbox is simple and cheap to service, and a 1.3 hatchback does not need more ratios around town. The downside is highway revs and fuel use, which is exactly what the 2021 D-CVT fixed.
Only four airbags here, against six on the 1.5. Hill hold assist, fog lamps and the retractable mirrors start one trim up, on the Premium X.
Service the automatic fluid on the interval in the booklet and check for a harsh 1-2 shift on a test drive. A thump when the car is cold that fades when warm is usually fluid, not a rebuild.
