Engine Mount Wear

medium
Coverage reviewed

Safe to keep driving. Fix it when convenient.

Affects model years: 2018-Present

Symptoms

  • Vibration felt through steering wheel and dashboard at idle
  • Clunking noise when shifting from Park to Drive
  • Engine movement visible when revving in neutral

Cause

The Myvi's engine mounts use rubber bushings to absorb vibration. Over time, especially in stop-go traffic conditions common in Malaysian cities, the rubber deteriorates and cracks. The left-hand (passenger-side) mount is most prone to failure due to engine torque loading.

Solution

Replace the worn engine mount. The left-hand mount is the most commonly affected. Inspect all three mounts when one fails; the others may be close to end of life. Using OEM mounts is recommended for best NVH performance.

basis not stated · undated

Engine mount wear is a progressive issue that worsens over time. Early detection prevents collateral damage to other drivetrain components.

Community notes

A very common issue at 80,000–120,000km. Some owners report improved vibration with aftermarket polyurethane mounts, but these transmit more NVH to the cabin.
