Dashboard and Interior Rattles
Safe to keep driving. Fix it when convenient.
Affects model years: 2014-2018
Symptoms
- Rattling noise from dashboard area on rough roads
- Squeaking from A-pillar trim
- Loose feeling centre console or door card vibrations
Cause
Early production Iriz models (2014-2018) had fit-and-finish issues where interior trim clips and dashboard panels were not tightly secured. The A-pillar trim is particularly prone to vibration at highway speeds.
Solution
Apply adhesive-backed felt tape to contact points behind trim panels. Replace broken plastic clips (available from Proton dealers for under RM5). For A-pillar rattle, remove the trim and add foam padding between the clip and the metal pillar.
basis not stated · undated
Interior rattles are a cosmetic annoyance rather than a mechanical concern. They’re easily fixable with minimal cost and are far less common in 2019+ models after Proton improved interior fit-and-finish.
Community notes
A well-known DIY fix in Malaysian Iriz groups. Most owners report complete elimination of rattles with felt tape and new clips. Proton revised clip design in later production runs.
